ooooooooooow! nice way to start off.

so let me just tell you how incredibly dumb i really am... (but first i will apologize for the typos that are bound to happen because i am using a spanish keyboard)

i was playing soccer last night, actually the game hadnt even started yet. i did my stretches and such and was out on the pitch warming up when i went to kick the ball back and i got a searing pain up my right quad. I PULLED IT! game hadnt even started and i pulled my right quad. i was in sooooooo much pain, and naturally we had no girl subs at that point in time so i had to play. smart one here ends up playing an 80 min soccer game with a pulled muscle. i was near tears by the end of the game because i was in so much pain. i could barely even walk to my car and driving was pretty near impossible. i just hoped that i didnt need to do much braking on the way home.

and for the record, i finally started packing my bags after i hobbled home, got in trouble with mom for hurting myself and painfully gathered up my vacation necessities. it wasnt a fun night. i finally got to bed close to 1230ish.

and around 430 mom was knocking on my door telling me it was time to leave, so i had to scramble to get my things together and out the door without getting yelled at for making us late (but not really late... the flight wasnt until 745).

so we ended up sitting at the airport for a long time and i dont feel like going into all that right now.

the fight down was relatively uneventful. except for all the turbulence that made me feel pretty queasy. i never get air sick but i wasnt feeling so hot then.

so we land in punta cana and you will never believe this airport. the terminal is like one giant open air building - basically a really really big hut complete with grass thatch roof and all. and the immigration officers are not so friendly. you would expect them to be because we are giving them our money, but they really arent. the guy pretty much threw my passport at me. i didnt really care though because i got a stamp from the dominican republic. yay!

so we get sorted out and on our bus and we had this highly attractive dominican boy working for apple vacations as our escort. he was definitely one of the spanish descendents... and just incase you care, his name was francisco ( and he was really funny).

i absolutely love the place we are staying. the resort is beautiful. i cant say that dad feels the same way about it though. every thing is open air except for the suites themselves. all the bars, restaurants - everything are open air which means no air conditioning and we are in a tropical place so you know he isnt that thrilled with it. i on the other hand am perfectly happy. i just siddle on up to the bar and order a hurricane...lol... just kidding. im not that stupid. i did see the soldiers with guns at the airport so im not really taking my chances with any jokes like that. actually the rum punch was pretty good. i havent gotten the chance to explore the creperie yet. that will be tomorrow nights activity. im dead tired right now so after this im gonna go back tot he room and sleep.

our room is amazing. we have a private balcony wiht a rocking chair and a hammock. we are right by the pool and can see it from our balcony. i cant wait to try out the swim up bar...

everything so far has been great in my opinion. at this point though, im not feeling so hot. i dont know if it is carrying over from teh flight or what. i am sure i will recover shorty though. dad however i think is going to starve to death because its a lot of foreign food and even the pizzas are not up to his standards. nor are the hamburgers or chicken nuggets. mom and i have yet to come in contact with food we dont like.

we have no idea what we will be doing the rest of the trip so far. mom and i want to go to santo domingo, but dad doesnt want to so now we feel guilty if we go off and leave him by himself for an entire day. i however am perfectly willing to go by myself because its not like i havent traveled by myself before... there is less stress that way if you get what i am saying. i think we might also take a trip out on the party boat and then the jungle safari as well. plus i want to do some sailing and parasailing and maybe get a quadrunner or something. we will be planning the rest of the trip out tomorrow probably so i will have more to report then.

other than that... oh wait couple more notes.

i was only at the restort for less than an hour before the dominican boys working there started hitting on me.

the other thing is i am keeping a running tab of how many times i hear the name sammy sosa. so far the count stands at 9 - for half a day of being here.

look for more updates to come. i didnt have to sell a kidney to get this time so it is a safe bet that i will be blogging regularly. gotta run... im getting kicked out of the internet room as we speak! hasta la vista!
